The Aviation Pocket-Book was produced for the use of R.F.C. and R.N.A.S pilots as a guide to all aspects of aviation in 1916. It includes technical information on engines, airframes, construction of aircraft, piloting and aerial navigation, dirigibles, weather, military flying, signalling, Aero Clubs and Societies, and a glossary of flying terminology. There are also details of the 1914 War Office engine trials. Illustrated with diagrams, drawings and charts, there are plans and diagrams of military aircraft flown by the R.F.C. and allied air forces, including the Bleriot, Breguet, Deperdussin, Bristol Biplane, Flanders, Borel, Roe Triplane, Nieuport, Short Biplane, Cody, and various Dirigibles.

The book is signed on the front endpaper by 'N. Drummond Dickson R.F.A'. 2nd Lieutenant Norman Drummond Dickson was educated at St Andrews University and served with the 3/2nd Highland Brigade Royal Field Artillery during WW1.

Condition:

In very good condition. The boards are in very good condition, with minor signs of wear and use. The binding and hinges are very good and secure. The text and illustrations are in very good condition. Signed on the front endpaper by 'N. Drummond Dickson R.F.A'.
