HANDBOOK FOR THE .303-IN.
VICKERS MACHINE GUN
(1923)

Mounted on Tripod Mounting, Mark IV

WAR OFFICE

 H.M.S.O., London, 1923

A rare original British Army Vickers .303 Machine Gun manual, published by H.M.S.O. in March 1923. A comprehensive and detailed handbook, it was intended to be used by machine gunners and officers in training and in the field. It would have been carried in action as an invaluable guide to the Vickers machine gun. With instructions and advice on a wide range of topics, from the mechanism and maintenance of the gun, to firing, loading, belt filling, stripping, packing, limber transport, tripods, mountings, and spares. The handbook is very well illustrated with a series of excellent fold-out technical drawings of the Vickers gun, its mechanism, parts, and tripod mountings. In exceptionally good condition - it would be very difficult indeed to find a better copy of this rare handbook.
