An original WW2 British military compass manual, published in 1941 by A. Wheaton & Co. Ltd. The book is a guide to map reading and compass work for the British Army in WW2. Full of useful information and illustrated with line drawings and diagrams. Subjects covered include: signs, scales, contours, bearings, grids, North point, setting a map, finding a position, the prismatic compass, and the service protractor. There are some good illustrations of the Verner's Patent type prismatic service compass. An excellent reference work for the compass collector, and the perfect companion to any WW1 or WW2 Verner's or Francis Barker compass.
Condition:
In good condition. The cloth-covered card cover is in good condition, with wear to the edges and spine. The stapled binding is secure, although the staples are rusty. The text and illustrations are in very good condition.
